I recently posted a list of Canadian podcasts for not-for-profit leaders in Canada, and promised a follow-up list of recommended non-Canadian ones. Here it is! What did I miss?

As far as I know. these are available through Apple, Spotify or wherever you listen to your podcast subscriptions.

1. Inspired Nonprofit Leadership

This podcast was started by Mary Hiland and has recently seamlessly transitioned to a new host, Sarah Olivieri. It’s up to 241 episodes and I’ve heard them all! I met Mary in 2004 at an Alliance for Nonprofit Management conference and have kept in touch as I admire her knowledge greatly. She also makes very useful free resources available.

From the website: Tips and strategies for nonprofit leaders.

Tesse Akpeki FCG won the Champion for Governance 2023 award and has also been recognised as a Fellow of the Association for Coaching, Tesse was pleased that the fusion of compassion and compliance is being recognised as a ‘must have’ to strengthen governance and leadership. I first met Tesse at a BoardSource conference in 1999 and was immediately impressed with her nonprofit governance knowledge and approach. The podcasts feature fascinating interviews.

Sadly inactive since February 2023 but episodes still available. I’ve met Steve Bowman when he visited Toronto. The description is very accurate, especially about his different perspectives.

From the website:  This podcast dives into strategy, risk, governance and leadership, to unlock the wisdom of boards and senior executives to create the future for the communities they serve. Short, sharp, insightful, with perspectives you may have never heard before.

7. The Ethical Rainmaker

Location:  Washington State, USA.

http://www.theethicalrainmaker.com

Sadly inactive since 2022 but episodes still available. Primarily fundraising but in a thought-provoking way that will benefit leadership thinking.

From the website:  Rainmaking is the practice of bringing in lots of money so that our organizations can thrive and do the work that they’re meant to do on behalf of the community. However, there are also many ethical considerations that we’re not used to making in the nonprofit sector, thus The Ethical Rainmaker was born.
